Many libraries are now developing digital collections of items that have been donated to them. This is a great way to make these items available to the world. Two examples of this are the New York Public Library and the Santa Barbara Public Library. Both have developed online digital collections.
The New York Public Library collection is not limited to NY items and images as seen in this example I searched on “Santa Barbara” but you can search or browse many topics, genres, or locations.
The Santa Barbara Public Library’s Digital Collection has a great collection of photographs and other items.
Search for public libraries in your ancestor’s towns and see what turns up, you might be surprised to find a menu from a lunch counter or restaurant your ancestor once owned or a special event program/menu
