Genealogy Research Tip

I subscribe to several genealogy newsletters and blogs and one is Genealogy In Action, Julie has several parts to her site and blog, and one that she no longer has is a genealogy scavenger hunt. I subscribed to it for a fee for a couple of years. It was such a great way to learn about little-known sites for genealogy research.

I don’t think I’m violating her copyright by listing a few of the sites she introduced me to.

Civil War battle maps on Story Maps, this is an interactive map of Civil War battles

Commonwealth War Graves Commission website a site to search for burials of men and women who served the Commonwealth and perished during WWI and WWII.

This site was used to search Oklahoma confederate pension files but it also has other databases related to Oklahoma research so be sure to check out the others too.

I hope you find these useful. Watch for more postings about other sites.
