1925 Santa Barbara Earthquake: Stories and Lives Remembered (June 1-Aug 16, 2025)

We are excited to be part of the centennial commemoration this June! Our exhibit at the Sahyun Genealogical Library has family recollections about the 1925 earthquake that shook up the city of Santa Barbara. These recollections include written accounts and photographs of that day, the aftermath from days of aftershocks and recovery efforts, to new City ordinances and committees created. A slideshow with film footage from the aftermath is also on display in the Woodward room using our new smartboard!

SBCGS will also have a table at the Centennial Commemoration event on June 28th at the La Arcada Plaza. And, take a look at the June 12th issue of the SB Independent!
