This is the time of year when you may be considering your choices for end-of-year giving. Please consider making the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society one of your giving priorities. We have set a goal of $17,000 for Annual Appeal donations.
The Board is grateful for your continued generosity and will lead the way with 100% participation. Your financial contributions and hard-working volunteers make it possible to carry out the Society’s core mission. Annual Appeal donations support operations such as the Sahyun Library, education programs, records preservation, and necessary expenses to operate the organization and the Library, to comply with legal requirements, pay our bills, and maintain our assets.
It is only through your generosity and support that the Society has grown and flourished. This year your contributions made it possible for the Society to provide the following:
Sahyun Research Library – Open over 800 hours available for research and assistance from Library volunteers; 200 books addedto the collection (total 16,000); 8 new computers purchased; 9 subscription websites offered.
Education – 30 classes, webinars, Lunch & Learn sessions; 11 monthly meetings – Speakers and Special Interest Groups; hosted 2 research field trips to Los Angeles and the annual trip to the Salt Lake City Family History Library.
Records Preservation – 27,000 local records were digitized/indexed (182,000 records to date)
Publications - 4 quarterly issues of Ancestors West; 11 issues of the Tree Tips newsletter
Events – Volunteer Appreciation event; Family History Month - Open House, Student Art Exhibit, Sleepless at the Sahyun, and installed a special exhibit, Santa Barbara’s Italian Pioneers, at the Goleta Library and our library.
Your support of the Society ensures a bright future and will make it possible to continue to provide a first-rate research library, education programs, and events as well as an all-day seminar to be held in April 2020. I hope you will consider the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society as one of your giving priorities.
