Da Ros Family

Antonio DaRos was born on 17 Jan 1890 in Vittorio Veneto, Province of Treviso, Veneto, Italy. At the age of 15, Antonio departed Havre, France to New York City on 18 Aug 1905 on the ship, La Savoie. He was naturalized on 29 May 1918. Also in 1918, Antonio was a musician and was able to serve in the US Army as a Musician 3rd Class 364th Infantry with James Dalle Valle. Antonio became a stone mason and worked on the iconic walls in Mission Canyon, balustrades on Alameda Padre Serra, Plaza Rubio, the stone house on Padre Street, the McCormick estate, and Lotusland. He started his own stone masonry business now known as Da Ros Masonry and Santa Barbara Stone. He married Mariana Mautino of Rivarolo, Canavese, Turin, Piedmont, Italy. Antonio later introduced his son, Oswald "Ozzie" Da Ros into stone masonry who later took over his father's business. For more information on Ozzie click here.
