These obituaries were clipped by volunteers at the Gledhill Library at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum and pasted into scrapbooks beginning in 1950. The early obits were randomly clipped or collected. Some years are missing.
If your ancestor's name is in our All Inclusive Database indicating there is an obituary for the person you’re researching, please click the eyeball and send an email request. One of our volunteer researchers will locate the obituary and send you a digital copy of it.

and request a lookup. One of our volunteer researchers will check other sources for the requested obituary.
Most early obituaries were clipped from the Santa Barbara News Press and were for Santa Barbara and local area deaths including Carpinteria. Later, many of them also covered Santa Maria and Guadalupe deaths. Also later, obituaries were clipped from the weekly Independent and Montecito Journal as well.
